Seventy years of transformer manufacturing

Founded in Harbin in 1955, we have built power transformers continuously for seven decades — through the electrification of northeast China, the build-out of the 500 kV grid, and now the transition to renewable generation.

A state-owned manufacturer

We are a state-owned sole proprietorship under Harbin Industrial Investment Group (HITG). That structure matters to overseas buyers for two practical reasons: it means the balance sheet behind a 25-year warranty is stable, and it means we are audited to Chinese state-enterprise standards.

What we bring to a renewable energy project

Harbin Transformer was founded in 1955. For over 70 years, we have focused on transformer design and manufacturing, with a product portfolio spanning 10 kV to 500 kV. Today, we focus our international offering on 100 kV to 500 kV transformers for renewable energy — solar, wind and BESS projects.

Our experience is shaped by more than manufacturing heritage. It is also shaped by the demands placed on transformers in Chinese renewable energy projects: high altitude, low temperatures, sand and dust, salt spray, large temperature swings, and complex grid-interconnection requirements and equipment interfaces. Reliable renewable energy transformer performance must be designed in through engineering analysis and testing — and validated against the actual conditions of each project.

For each project, we begin with the operating inputs: altitude, temperature range, pollution level, grid-interconnection requirements, load profile and equipment interfaces. We do more than issue a standard configuration. We translate those inputs into a design basis for loading, temperature rise, insulation coordination, environmental protection and interfaces, then carry the resulting requirements into manufacturing, testing and delivery documentation.

Each configuration is tied to the conditions and risks it is intended to address, providing a clearer basis for operation and maintenance after commissioning. Our focus extends beyond delivery and commissioning to whether the configuration remains fit for the project's operating horizon and actual duty.

Two manufacturing bases

Harbin, Heilongjiang — oil-immersed power transformers. A 120,000 m² site in the Yingbin Central Zone of Harbin High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, established 1955. Designed for 1000 kV / 1000 MVA class production under the municipal 'Double Million' programme.

Hai'an, Jiangsu — resin-insulated dry-type transformers. Located in the Yangtze River delta, close to deep-water ports, which shortens inland transport for export shipments of dry-type units.
