Market access
Market access requirements
Getting a transformer into a country is a documentation problem before it is a shipping problem. This page sets out what each of our target markets requires, and what we can provide.
Middle East and Gulf
Saudi Arabia requires SASO certification through SABER, and utilities such as Saudi Electricity Company operate their own prequalification. Elsewhere in the Gulf, requirements are set project by project, usually against IEC 60076 with additional utility specifications for high ambient and desert conditions.
Central Asia and CIS
EAC certification under the TR CU technical regulations is the usual entry requirement for Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan apply their own national certification regimes. Documentation is typically required in Russian as well as English.
Southeast and South Asia
Malaysia requires SIRIM certification, Thailand TIS, Indonesia SNI. India applies BIS certification for transformers and its own grid standards. Most projects in the region are specified to IEC 60076 with national variations on efficiency limits and testing.
Australia and New Zealand
Transformers are specified to AS/NZS 60076 and must meet the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for distribution transformers. Australian utilities commonly require factory acceptance testing and, for larger units, an owner's engineer to witness tests.
Europe
EU transformer efficiency is regulated under Commission Regulation 2019/1783, which sets tiered loss limits for different capacity bands. CE marking and conformity documentation are required. The UK applies equivalent requirements under its own legislation.

Confirm requirements for your project
Certification status changes and is often project-specific. Tell us the destination country and the applicable standard, and we will confirm the current requirement and what documentation we can provide for that project.
